Intended for plastic surgeons, dermatologists, facial plastics and dermatologic surgeons as well as all physicians interested in aesthetics, this course will showcase the latest techniques in non-surgical alternatives for facial contouring and nipple reconstruction utilizing calcium hydroxylapatite injection.

Via a combination of live demonstration, commentary from leading physicians in the field, 3D animation, written content and still images, participants will enjoy a highly interactive educational experience. There is no fee for this activity.

Q What is the difference between the high-bandwidth and low-bandwidth versions of this course?
A The high-bandwidth version of the course contains on-screen text content, compressed video clips, still images and a final exam. This is the "full version" of the course, and provides the most comprehensive instruction. The low-bandwidth version of the course contains on-screen text content, still images and the same final exam. Video demonstrations are not accessible via the low-bandwidth version. It is recommended that participants with high-speed Internet access (DSL, Cable Modem, ISDN, T1) view the high-bandwidth version of the course. Participants with dial-up Internet access may wish to view the low-bandwidth version of the course to avoid waiting for video to download. All users may also request the high-bandwidth version of the course on CD-ROM. Q How long will it take for me to complete this course? Must the course be completed in one sitting?
A Most participants find that it takes approximately 1 hour to complete this course. You may login and logout whenever you like. Each time you return to the course, you'll be able to start from where you left off.
 
Q Upon completion of the course, will I receive CME credit?
A Yes. To obtain credit, simply complete and pass the final exam. Participants who pass the course will be able to print a certificate that awards up to 1 category 1 credit for the course. Each physician should only claim credit for the time actually spent in the activity. Credit is issued and authorized through the Center for Advanced Medical Education, an organization accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Q Who is the intended audience for this activity?
A This CME activity is intended for plastic surgeons and dermatologists interested in non-surgical alternatives for facial contouring, as well as those interested in learning about emerging aesthetic procedures. The course is equally well-suited for physicians who are looking for skill/technique enhancement, as well as physicians who are just starting to perform these procedures. While many of the techniques demonstrated can be applied to a variety of fillers, the course focuses on demonstration using injectable calcium hydroxylapatite.
 
Q Does the faculty have anything to disclose?
A

Current guidelines state participants in CME activities should be made aware of any affiliation or financial interest that may affect the speaker's presentation(s) and/or who will be discussing off-label therapies.   Dr. Hilton Becker, Dr. Devinder Mangat and Dr. Mariano Busso have indicated that BioForm Medical, Inc. has provided them with research material.  In addition, Dr. Mariano Busso noted that BioForm Medical, Inc. has provided him with an honorarium for a prior educational presentation.  During the course, the faculty will be discussing and demonstrating use of calcium hydroxylapatite injection for facial contouring and nipple reconstruction, applications of this product that are not yet approved by the FDA.

A Yes, upon conclusion of the course content, you will be able to complete an electronic multiple-choice post-test. Upon successfully passing the test, you will be able to receive CME credit.
 
Q Can you tell me more about the faculty?
A Dr. Hilton Becker, MD, FRCS, FACS
 
Dr. Hilton Becker has been in plastic surgery practice since 1981 and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and completed his plastic surgery residency at the Medical College of Virginia.  Dr. Becker is a member of many regional and national medical societies, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.  Dr. Becker specializes in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Breasts, Facial Rejuvenation, and Liposuction. He is both nationally and internationally recognized for his expertise in plastic surgery, having published more than 50 articles in the plastic surgery literature. He has written several chapters in plastic surgery books and recently published his own book, “What Are You Putting On Your Skin.”
 
Dr. Mariano Busso, MD
 
Dr. Mariano Busso is a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida and also maintains a busy private practice. He is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology.  Dr. Busso received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in Argentina where he also completed his internship in internal medicine and a fellowship in dermatology. On moving to the United States, Dr. Busso completed an internship in general surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida. He then went on to do a second residency in dermatology at the University of Miami.  Dr. Busso has published a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has been awarded the Upjohn Research Award at the Department of Dermatology of the University of Miami and the George Iaonnides Teaching Award at the Department of Dermatology of the University of Miami.
 
Dr. Devinder S. Mangat, MD, FACS
 
Dr. Devinder S. Mangat is President of Mangat-Kuy Plastic Surgery Centers, presiding over surgery centers located in Ohio, Kentucky and Colorado.  Dr. Mangat received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he also completed his residency in General Surgery.  He then completed his residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Oklahoma.  He completed his fellowship with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at McCollough Facial Surgery Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama.  Currently, Dr. Mangat is the President of Mangat-Kuy Plastic Surgery Centers.   He is an active member of numerous regional and national medical societies including the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.  He has also served as an Associate Professor for Facial Plastic Surgery, Department of Otolaryngology - Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
